We all love
animals. Why do we call some "pets" and others
"dinner?"
k.d. lang
This webpage is an introduction to a section of
photographs that I hope will
portray the fact that farm animals just like any other
animal are beautiful creatures. Few people, even those
who call themselves animal lovers, really appreciate
what beautiful creatures farm animals are both physically and
emotionally, sadly only seeing them as a source of food and clothing. But farm animals, just like your cat or dog, are
sentient beings with their own personalities who will respond to you
given the opportunity. And just like your cat or dog, or
your pet budgie they feel pain, both physical and
emotional, and are aware of what is
happening to them and interact with their environment.
The idea of
this website is to make people think differently about
farm animals and I hope that this gallery of photographs
will help you to see what wonderful and indeed beautiful
creatures farm animals are. It is my sincerely
hope that realizing the innate beauty of these creatures
may play some small role in making people think
differently about our relationship with these animals,
and to see them as feeling thinking beings with the
right to live out their natural lives in peace, free
from exploitation and abuse of any kind.
